iOS 5.1 rumored to release on March 9th; brings new lock screen

iOS 5.1 has been in beta for quite a while and rumors about its release date have been flying around in the past few weeks. The expected date of release is around March. Initially it was the 7th but now according to BGR iOS 5.1 will land on the 9th. It could be a stand alone release or it might be released along side iPad 3.
Previous x.1 releases have varied a bit in the amount of features they’ve brought to the table. iOS 5.1 will have a new lock screen which will allow for a faster camera access than what’s currently on offer. A camera button will be placed infront of the unlock slider and users will be able to drag it up to reveal the view finder. This whole process shaves off a second or two compared to the current method of double clicking the home button. In addition to this Siri will now be able to speak Japanese.

Google Nexus One Finally Runs Ice Cream Sandwich Thanks To CM9

Google may have run out of love for the Nexus One because no official update come from them regarding Ice Cream Sandwich. But this doesn't mean that we won't be able to use it on Google's first flagship smartphone.  An intrepid dev named TexasIce on the XDA forums has managed to get an early build of CyanogenMod 9 up and running on Google’s first Nexus device, and it looks mighty impressive for a work-in-progress.
Many features such as Messaging, Calling, and surfing the Android Market are flawless, but however, features like Camera and USB are not functional at the moment and the lack of hardware acceleration means the build has a tendency to chug when it comes to some of Ice Cream Sandwich’s more impressive animations.

Texaslce, an Android developer is working on the ROM and we may even see more features when the fully capable version comes out. Certainly looking forward to the fully functional Cyanogen Mod 9.
